my name is mairead. i work hard to stay true to myself. when i don’t, it complicates everything.

as the days go on, i discover more and more interests. currently, my top interests are in music and languages.

i’m graduating from interlochen arts academy, where i’ve been pursuing my love of cello. i’ve grown so much in the past 2 years, as a musician and an individual.

this year i was mentoring other students as a ‘writing fellow.’ and, depending on how planning works, this summer i should be going to columbia with my orchestra conductor, some of the other teachers from school, and my colombian cellist friend. i’d spend a part of the summer working an orchestra job, mentoring kids, helping my teacher translate, etc. in a latin country..good for all sorts of things, especially my language skills. i’m very excited. we’ll see how i can get this to work.

this summer, like the last two, i’m working as a camp leader at our local ymca’s daycamp. i’ll have a group of about a dozen ‘munchkins’ (aged 6-8.) it should be delightful. i’ve got a wonderful team to work with.

next year i will be in the honors program (for arts and sciences) at boston college. i’m technically an english major, but i’m figuring out the music piece of things.

my life is essentially wonderful, despite the ups and downs. and i’m blessed with the most amazing people.

i’m happy, and i’m in love. that’s enough for me.
